Motion

Refers to City Council file 24-0602

“______ NC/CC, a member of the Westside Regional Alliance of Councils, strongly supports CF 24-0602, which requests a report back from the CLA on the costs, environmental hazards, and human health consequences of artificial turf installations in Los Angeles, and recommendations to effectuate transitioning away from the future use of synthetic turf or artificial grass and to incentivize drought-friendly landscaping.”

Notes

Modified versions:

BABCNC:  Added phrase “to incentivize native and drought-friendly landscaping” in last sentence of the motion (9/25/24, per R. Greenberg)

MVCC:  CIS 7/1/24

Palms NC:  CIS 8/4/24

WNC:  CIS 8/9/24

Status in Council as of 9/19/24:

A substitute motion in this CF passed in City Council on 9/17/24,   The Board was aware at the 9/16 meeting that this CF would be voted on in Council the next day, but strongly felt that the motion to support should still be recommended to other member Councils for possible adoption of a WRAC position while the report back is pending, and the matter is still under consideration in Council.

Minority position:  SORONC:  CIS 9/20/24 (against the CF)
